Hey, she tried! When Angelina
Jolie revealed last week, via New York Times Op-Ed piece, that she'd recently
undergone a preventative double mastectomy, every journalist in the world
wanted to score an interview with the star -- including Ann Curry. The ousted
TODAY co-anchor, 56, has long had a special working relationship with Jolie,
37, and partner Brad Pitt, who frequently granted Curry exclusive one-on-one TV
chats around the world to help promote their humanitarian efforts and more.
And despite Curry's
less-than-affectionate year with NBC following her talked-about exit from
TODAY, the network pressured the veteran reporter to ask pal Jolie for an
interview, the New York Post's Page Six reports. Alas, Jolie declined the
interview -- and all media requests for the time being. The Post also reports
that, following Curry's June 2012 departure from TODAY, she would not speak
with any other NBC reporters.
Curry made a brief return to
TODAY earlier this week, reporting from the devastation in Moore, Oklahoma
following the tragic May 20 tornado that claimed the lives of 24 people.
"She's a real journalist," one source told Us Weekly recently.
"She just wants to work
again." Another friend adds that she is "still upset about what she
went through" during her final year on the NBC morning show. (Source)
